POP ETC // Keep It For Your Own (Yours Truly Session)

Chris talks very honestly about the band's transition in this video. I didn't get it before but I get it now...here... listening to this session. Before, I couldn't discern his voice from the mixtape they released earlier in the year but when music is stripped down like this, it's instantly recognizable, and I get it.
POP ETC's new album will be released June 12 (US).

Did you find what you're looking for?

I'm carefully looking through the lineup combing for the artists I'd like to see. Who do you suggest?

Regina Spektor : What We Saw From The Cheap Seats

Three years later and she's back with that beautiful angelic voice that we fell in love with the first time we heard her. Via npr's 'First Listen', I'm listening to her upcoming album and crossing my fingers for a tour to follow. Listening to this album, it feels as though she never left.

On another note, the Austin City Limits 2012 lineup will finally be released tomorrow. Have you gotten your code to buy tickets yet? Have you heard who's coming so far? Childish Gambino, Bon Iver, Andrew Bird (YES!), Quiet Company, LP, Freelance Whales, Kimbra are among some of the released names. I know the out-of-towners will say otherwise, but I love that they decided to do the ACL Lottery this year. I'm praying and doing voodoo for F+TM (obviously) but all in all, I smell a good lineup this year.

Yellow Ostrich // Til I Disappear

Yellow Ostrich - "'Til I Disappear" by CHARTattack
Recently, I had to write an essay for my music class. I had to go to a concert of some sort, describe the atmosphere and performance, and then I had to relate all of it to themes we talked about in class. I chose to write about Yellow Ostrich and after listening to their music countless times, trying to remember what it was like because it was a SX show, I found myself going back to this track. I do like their new album, Strange Land, though. It's more loud and full for the obvious reason that Alex Schaaf gained two new permanent band members. "Til I Disappear" is Alex's layering vocals + a drum machine + guitar. It's droning, fleeting, and I really like it.
